That was Mozart. That! That giggling dirty-minded creature I had just seen, crawling on the floor!

Starring Jefferson Mays (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) and directed by. Darko Tresnjak, don't miss this new production of Amadeus, coming to Pasadena Playhouse in February 2026. Peter Shaffer's Tony-winning play shines a fictional light over classical music's greatest composer, imagining his rise to the top in Vienna, and the intense jealousy it inspires in his rivals. Highly theatrical, witty, and stunning, Amadeus not only highlights Mozart's genius but also that of the late Shaffer.
Inspired by the music of Mozart, fellow composer Antonio Salieri is desperate to meet the man behind the sound. However, his tastes are soured when he discovers the 'genius' is uncouth, lacking the charm he feels should accompany the talent. Desperate and jealous, he decides to bust into Mozart's inner circle, presenting a kind face, while attempting to sabotage him at every turn.
